Our Mission

Our mission at Grow it Green Morristown is to be a catalyst for positive change in the Greater Morristown Community.  We empower residents to be advocates for sustainable communities through: capital improvement projects, education and outreach and legislative advocacy.

At Grow it Green Morristown, we believe that by promoting environmental awareness and stewardship, we can create a healthy, livable community where all residents have opportunities for well being; safe neighborhoods, walkable communities, bicycle friendly streets, clean air and water.

To affect change, Grow it Green Morristown has committed itself to three fundamental action areas:

Capital Improvement Projects:

Touch it, see it, believe it. 

Through landscape changing projects, such as the Early Street Community Garden, we create more than just beautiful spaces.  We create a point of contact between various stakeholder groups, that might not otherwise have an opportunity to encounter one-another.  We believe that on-the-ground projects will not only transform individual properties, but inspire change throughout entire neighborhoods. 

Yet we can do more than inspire, we can educate people as well as provide support so that they may create beauty in their own lives.

Education and Outreach:

Touch it, experience it, become it.

Having our roots in capital improvement projects, we support each project with educational opportunities and community outreach events.  We go beyond creating places of beauty and inspiration, we teach people how to re-create these spaces in their own neighborhoods as well as use the gardens, as places of education for school and community groups. Our educational opportunities bring together residents from a diversity of socioeconomic, religious, and cultural backgrounds.

Grow it Green Morristown believes that by finding what joins us together, as a community, we begin to define what is important for our municipal government to support, as well. 

Legislative Advocacy:

Touch it, share it, promote it.

By providing local people with tools to participate in and engage their municipal government, we will empower citizens to become effective advocates for transforming Morristown into the livable, vibrant community that we believe it can - and must - be. At Grow it Green Morristown, we firmly believe that legislative advocacy is a necessity when working to implement lasting, transformative changes.
