Early Street Community Garden
Garden Short: Growtown Motown
by Christian Schuller of Happy Camper Creative
In 2010, community garden member Christian Schuller created an award winning documentary film about the start of the Community Garden at Early Street.
Securing the Land
Located in the heart of Morris County’s most densely populated municipality, the Early Street Community Garden was slated to be developed into a high-rise apartment building. However, in 2013, GIGM partnered with The Trust for Public Land and Town of Morristown to save the garden and secure much-needed open space for the community. With over $2 million of funding from Green Acres and the Morris County Open Space Trust Fund, the garden land will forever be safe from development.
