Farming at The Urban Farm is about more than growing food.  It is about stewarding the land. Our agricultural practices are deeply rooted in lessons learned from indigenous peoples. We are grateful for those that have shared ways to care for the plants, the soil, the water, air and the animals.  Over the past 12 years we have used these methods to create healthy soils to grow the healthiest, nutrient dense produce. Our produce is grow without toxic pesticides, synthetic fertilizers or GMOs. Our Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) shares offer our customers a unique experience in town where you get to know the farmers and see where your food comes from.

 

The funds from the CSA are spent early in the season to buy the seeds, nutrients and implements essential for that season. Regardless of the weather, you are an important part of the local food system and the weekly harvest. You are a part of the farm- its highs and lows, as there are many inputs to growing food that are not in the farmers' control. In the past few years, we transitioned to a build your own share system, where you choose what goes in your bag from 30 different varieties of vegetables over the course of the growing season to reduce food waste.

EXCITING NEWS: New items for 2022 - cilantro, thyme, lavender, 15 varieties of hot and sweet peppers, black cherry and orange heirloom tomatoes throughout the season! Tomatoes will be available earlier this year due to a new trellising system.

 

'Pick your own flowers' offered again this season! We will keep you updated on fresh herbs. The herb garden is currently being replanted with donor support. We have planned this new area introducing new varieties coming into production in 2022.

Please note the following:

​

• CSA pickups operate in inclement weather. In rare incidences of SEVERE, dangerous weather, we will delay or cancel pickups with announcements made via social media and email when possible.

• We recommend following us on social media @gigmotown (Instagram) or Facebook for the most current updates. Share what you are making at home, pictures of visits to the farm, etc. on social media tagging us too please! It is motivating and inspiring for those hot, summer days!

• You may send another person to pick up your CSA with your name and if you have a Full. Half or Quarter CSA.

• If you are unable to pick up you CSA share on a Thursday or Saturday of that week, the food will be donated.    

• CSA member emails are sent from Farmer Shaun each Tuesday with farm updates and lists of items available.

• Quarter and Half share members can plan choices prior to arrival to speed up pickup.

CSA Pickup Schedule:

Thursday 3 pm - 6 pm pickups beginning June 16th or

​

Saturday pickups  9:30 am - 1 pm beginning June 18th

​

The week of June 26th and August 28th will be Thursday pickups only due to the holidays.

​

Thank you for arriving in time to complete your pickup by closing time for the farm stand.

There is plenty of free parking in the Lafayette Learning Center parking lot.

Help us prepare for a successful season and enjoy the rewards of an upfront investment in The Urban Farm through a CSA membership, with weekly pickups of produce for 21 weeks, June through October.

First pick up dates are Thursday, June 16th or Saturday, June 18th.

• Half shares (feeds a family of 2 for a week) for $402 

• Full shares (feeds a family of 4 for a week) for $715

• Quarter shares (feeds one plus) for $225

Lettuce, Kale, Swiss Chard, Radishes, Turnips, Beets, Cabbage, Ground Cherries, Tomatoes, Cherry Tomatoes, Hot and Sweet peppers, Eggplants, Cucumbers, Carrots, Delicata Squash, Summer Squash, Herbs and more!

2022 CSA pickup guidelines:

​

• Members take a tote and choose produce to assemble share.

• Members are not required to wear a mask as we operate 100% outdoors. Mask wearing is optional and supported for participants to feel comfortable for CSA pickups.

• Members record the weight of their share at the bagging station.

• Please bring a reusable bag/ tote to load.

• Pruners are available at the bagging station for picking flowers. Please clean and return after use.
